Update :: baci's book club

Image from The Guardian
While we've loved hosting baci's book club online each month, the response just hasn't justified the time and dedication it takes to write the posts (it's not easy writing a book report each month, lol!).  So while we'll keep updating our baci's book club reading list (after all, the main reason for starting the club was to help people find great books to read!) and we'll still be sending book marks to anyone who becomes an eMember, we will discontinue the posts for now.  So sorry if we've disappointed you :o(

True Brides {Matt + Carrie}

June seems to be the month of weddings :)
I am here to introduce another True Bride, Carrie and her fiance, Matt. They are getting married on June 30th at St. Isidore (Marysdale) with the reception to follow at the K of C in Bryan, Ohio. Their fun spring wedding colors are watermelon and tangerine.

Engagement Questions
What was one of the first things (wedding-wise) you did when you got engaged?
Reserved the Hall, so we knew what the date would be.

Did you know the engagement was coming or were you surprised?
I knew it was coming. We had talked about it.

Wedding Questions
One thing you were worried about when planning your wedding?
Forgetting one of the little things near the wedding day.

What was the easiest vendor to book?
They were all pretty easy. We have friends helping.

What was the hardest vendor to book?
The Caterer

How was wedding dress shopping?
Good! I went with my matron of honor to just look. While sending pictures to my mom we got her approval and ordered the dress.

What’s been the most stressful part about the wedding?
Getting all the loose ends finished.

What’s been the best part about the wedding?
Spending more time with family and friends.

Was choosing your wedding party hard or easy?
Easy.

Have things gotten any easier as the wedding day approaches?
Yes and No. All the big things have been done, but I still keep finding little things I need to finish up.

A big congratulations to Matt and Carrie!!

baci spotlight | Sisters Photo Shoot

I had the opportunity to do a sisters photo shoot last month for a Mother's Day Gift. I had so much fun with them because they are so fun and loving!!

These girls are so much fun to be around!!

They had on matching toenail and fingernail polish :)

The girls made signs :)

They are such close sisters and look so much alike, too!!

Our uncle has a woods behind his house that is connected to a camp site and there is this beautiful bridge!!

This picture was kind of fun and un-expected, but cute still because it describes them to a tee!

We will end with a picture that is heart-warming, the girls wanted to do this heart picture for their mom!!

Hope you enjoyed the pictures I took of the Grinnell Sisters as much as I did taking them!!

Amanda + Ilario | Photo Shoot by Arielle Doneson Photography {Wooster, Ohio}

I adore Arielle, plain and simple.  She is not only drop-dead gorgeous, incredibly talented and hands-down the kindest, most real person I have ever met - I feel so blessed to call her my friend.  So when the lovely lady asked if Ilario and I would be models so she could test out her new film camera, I was thrilled!!  It couldn't have come at a better time because I was actually planning on the two of us doing a little photo shoot in honor of our upcoming five-year anniversary (can you believe it?!?!).

These are just a few of our favorites - how on earth she made us look so damn good, I'll never know. . . God bless that woman!

Oh Lovely Day | Guest Wish List

We have a special Guest Wish List for you today - the beautiful and talented Chandra of Oh Lovely Day, one of my favorite wedding blogs, is here sharing her current "must haves"!!  I adore everything Chandra does over at Oh Lovely day and she constantly inspires me, not only in her business, but as a stay-at-home momma and wifey :o)  Now check out the truly lovely items she's wishing for - enjoy!

1) Blogger Sweatshirt: I've been obsessed with this "blogger" sweatshirt since I first laid eyes on it. Since I work from home as a blogger and a stay-at-home momma full time I can wear it to work :)

2) Fujifilm Instax Mini 7S Camera: I like to pretend I'm a photographer and love taking pictures. I also always loved polaroid cameras (and even had one at my wedding with film bought on ebay). I'd love to have this updated version to collect special moments and have instant "retro" prints to display!

3) Trip to Kauai: My husband and I haven't been on a real vacation since our honeymoon (almost 3 years ago!) and we haven't had a family vacation since our son was born. I've been dreaming of going back to Kauai because it is the perfect relaxing place for a family with a toddler. And I really need a vacay!

4) Matching iPad and iPhone covers: These neopolitian covers would really perk up my plainly dressed (or naked!) iPad and iPhone. This etsy shop has tons of adorable options!

baci designs | Sam + Lexy's Custom Destination Wedding Stationery {Nassau, Bahamas}

Once again, Sam and Lexy's Bahamian Invitation Suite was featured in the article I wrote titled, "The Importance of the Wedding Invitation" on the WeddingLovely Blog AND it was the focus for a guest post, "From Inspiration to Invitation" on Oh Lovely Day (can you tell it's one of my favorites?!?!), but it didn't appear here on baci's blog.

The gorgeous color palette, raised thermography printing, island embossment, metallic bellyband and printed envelope are just a few of the elements that make this destination wedding design amazing - it truly is breathtaking!!

I think we've officially shared all of our designs from the past few years with you here on the blog!  In the coming months you'll get to see what we've been working on within the past year, from a whimsical Cherry Blossom Wedding Suite to a Manly Birthday Party Invitation - we can't wait to share everything with you all :o)

Tomorrow stay tuned for Guest Wish List from the beautiful Chandra of Oh Lovely Day (I just adore my fellow Ohioan!) and a look into a photo shoot our sweet friend Arielle did of Ilario and I!!

Wedding Wednesday | Casey + Josh's Custom Wedding Stationery {Hicksville, Ohio}

Casey and Josh's simply beautiful Valentine's Day Wedding Stationery has been featured on WeddingLovely Blog in my article, "The Importance of the Wedding Invitation", but somehow it never made an appearance here.  The monogrammed suite is the perfect example of affordable (and gorgeous!) custom stationery - just because you're on a budget doesn't mean your wedding invitation can't be beautiful!

baci designs | Dan's Birthday + Sophie's Graduation Invitations

How we've still managed to miss sharing some of the awesome designs we've worked on over the past few years, I'll never know. . . sometimes stuff slips through the cracks, even pretty and fun things like Dan's 40th Birthday and Sophie's High School Graduation Invitations :o)

Over the next few days we'll catch up on the goodness we've never officially shared with you all (a lot of it has been featured in guest posts on other blogs and on Facebook, but somehow it never made it onto baci's blog).  And then we'll move onto more recent goodness - I can't wait to share everything we've been working on!!

Engagement Questions
What was one of the first things (wedding-wise) you did when you got engaged?
Started to decide the size of wedding we wanted; whether it was 50 people or 200. Then we started deciding the guest list.

Did you know the engagement was coming or were you surprised?
I knew it was coming, I just didn’t know when or what was going to happen. I was still very surprised though!

Wedding Questions
One thing you were worried about when planning your wedding?
We were worried most about whether or not this was the right way for us to get married. We had debated about getting married very simply with just immediate family then taking a nice vacation, but we decided to have a “normal” wedding so our families could be a part of it. We didn’t want to regret either decision, so that is what we were most worried about.

What was the easiest vendor to book?
The easiest vendor for me to book was the location of the reception. I think it was just meant to be because it all fell into place seamlessly.

What was the hardest vendor to book?
The hardest vendor to book was the photographer. To me, the pictures are extremely important. I had a really hard time deciding which one I wanted that would be available and fit in my price range. Our engagement is only 6 months, so finding someone that would be free in that short amount of time posed a big challenge. Our first photographer, which we had booked and were only a week away from engagement pictures, found out she was having twins and couldn’t do our wedding… So, we had to scramble to find another in a VERY short amount of time. Thankfully, we found one.

Is there anything special that has been done for your wedding?
There hasn’t been anything done special for our wedding, but what is special about our wedding is that it will be joining together a family, not just husband and wife. Eric has two little girls, so from that we will be making our family official on our wedding day. The girls are so excited. We wanted to be able to show them our love and to show them how important they are to us. They will have special details throughout the entire wedding. We made the invitation wording from their point of view and the ceremony will include them as well.

How was wedding dress shopping?
Wedding dress shopping was fun and nerve racking at the same time. It is kind of a lot of pressure because you are looking for the dress that is perhaps the most important dress of your life. You want your husband to find you drop dead gorgeous in it yet you want to keep the dream that you’ve had in your head since you were a little girl. I invited my grandma, mom, mother-in-law to be, and a bridesmaid. All eyes were on me. I tried on the first one and it felt VERY weird to be in a wedding dress. But the more I kept trying on, the more I loved the first one. I purchased the first wedding dress I ever tried on! J

What’s been the most stressful part about the wedding?
The most stressful part has been all of the meetings and such throughout the work-week and weekends. We are very busy as it is, with 2 kids, work, and many other things, so trying to fit in meetings and picking up things for the wedding has been very stressful. Also, trying to make other people happy; all the way from who we chose to invite (people will always have something to say about that) to making our parents happy and involved in the process.

What’s been the best part about the wedding?
The best part is knowing that I get to spend forever with the man I am marrying. The actual wedding day is exciting, getting dressed up and having fun with friends and family, yet I am most excited for every single day after that. I look forward to the routines, waking up to my husband every day, snuggles with the girls, and for every single memory that I will be making.

Was choosing your wedding party hard or easy?
Hard. I wanted to pick people that have known me the longest and been most influential in my life AND who have supported us as a couple. Trying to choose those people and not hurt any of my other friend’s feelings was hard.

Have things gotten any easier as the wedding day approaches?
Well, all of the big things are planned. But now it is time for little details and that tends to be more difficult. The big things are important, but the little details are what make the wedding day yours.

A big Congratulations to the Future Mr. and Mrs. Norman!!!

baci's baking | Individual Savory Three-cheese Quiches

Today I'm going to share some yumminess that I made for Laurinda's Baby Shower in April - Individual Savory Three-cheese Quiches!  Since I can't simply just make a recipe, I combined two to make these using the Individual Quiches recipe from Rachel Ray and one of my favorites from the Food Network.

Individual Savory Three-cheese Quiches
Original Recipes from Rachel Ray and the Food Network

1 cup half-and-half
4 large eggs
4 large egg yolks
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

3 T. grated Romano or Parmesan cheese
1/4 t. dried majoram
1/2 t. dried basil
1/2 t. garlic powder

1 package frozen puff pastry sheets, thawed according to package directions (preferably Pepperidge Farm brand)
Flour, as needed for rolling out the dough
1 cup Gruyere or Swiss cheese, grated
1/2 cup grated Colby-jack cheese
1 cup baby spinach, roughly chopped
Cooking spray

1) Preheat oven to 400°F.
2) In a large bowl, combine the half-and-half, eggs, egg yolks, salt, pepper, Romano, majoram, basil and garlic powder in a medium-size bowl.
3) Lightly spray the muffin tins with cooking spray. Roll the puff pastry sheet out on a lightly floured work surface into a 9"x12" rectangle. Cut the rectangle into 6 equal squares and place each square into the each muffin round so that the dough extends slightly over the top of the muffin tin, Repeat with second sheet to create 12 total squares.
4) Divide the Gruyere, Colby-jack and spinach between each of the cups and fill them with the egg custard just to the top of the cup line. Fold each overlapping corner of each square over top of the filling to enclose it. You can bake the quiches immediately or freeze and bake them later.
5) Pop the quiches into the oven and bake about 20 minutes, switching the position of the tins halfway through baking, until the filling is puffed and the crust is golden brown.

Makes 12 Individual Quiches
