Products We Love | Amanda

In a unique direction from the norm here at baci's blog, this week all of us will be chatting about some of our favorite products :o)  Each day this week you'll hear from Jami, Brittany, Ilario and I about a few things we couldn't live without. . . then on Friday Jami has a special treat for you - she's going to dish about some of the best Akron Area spots we love!!  Enjoy, and as usual, we'd love to hear from you  - what are the things you love and just couldn't live without?!?!?

Products I Love
This past winter I was dealing with (and hating) a case of eczema.  This is nothing new in my book - each year I get one stupid little patch of nasty dry skin, usually on my back or legs. . . well this year it decided to pop up on my face, right smack dab between my nose and upper lip!  It was horrific - not only was it flaky, itchy and impossible to disguise, but eczema can leave red, splotchy scars and that was the last thing I wanted on my face.

Needless to say I was incredibly angry at my body and took action with every cream I owned or had heard of, short of going to the doctor and having a steroid cream prescribed.  Nothing worked. . . until I finally came across Arcona Skin Care.  One day I took advantage of a new Arcona Facial at the salon (which is also something I can't live without - M.C. Hair Consultants - Lisa, my esthetician, and Hayley, my stylist, are the best!!) and I went home with what Arcona calls The Basic Five.  Each of the five products work together to restore the natural balance of your skin and it worked for me perfectly - no more eczema and much brighter, moisturized skin was mine :o)

Once you're finished with your initial period of time withe Basic Five, you can tweak your regimen for what you need - I removed Desert Mist (My skin was so moisturized, I no longer needed it - I can't believe I am actually able to say that!!  I've always had dry skin!) and started using Tabula Rasa (the best spot treatment ever!).  I'm in love :o)

#2 Clarisonic Mia
My friend, Lexy, bought a Clarisonic Mia (the more affordable, mini version of the Clarisonic Classic) at the end of last year and raved about it so much that I just had to check it out myself.  So my amazing hubby bought me one of these little babies (the pretty pastel pink one, to be exact!) for my birthday and it truly has changed my life.  I know, that sounds ridiculous, but it is seriously AWESOME!

Combined with my Arcona Tea Toner Bar (the Clarisonic cleaner is nice, but can be drying) twice a day (forewarning, your skin will go all break-out city on you for the first week or two), my skin is blemish free and seriously softer than ever - the rotating head is such a wonderful exfoliant and deep cleaner that even if I do get a blemish, it's gone within a day!  That's heaven in my book :o)

#3 Borax
Borax has been around since the 1800's, but it just came into my life within the past six months.  I originally bought the "magical crystal" (when it was first created, people thought it had special qualities - they even drank it!) because my outdoor furniture cushions has mildewed.  I ended up cleaning those with vinegar and dish washing soap (two other seriously rockin' things to have around to house to clean with!) because I didn't have any Borax yet, but when I spotted it at Target I thought I'd buy it anyway to test it out.  I've never been happier - not only is it a natural detergent (yes, even for baby clothes and delicates!), but it's affordable and works fantastic!

Case in point:  I am incredibly talented (insert sarcasm) and sometimes when I drink wine I spill it all over myself. . . like ALL over myself and my light grey shirt and ivory sweater, oh and expensive green/white throw pillow.  Did I mention I only drink red wine?  After I was done freaking out and being depressed about how much of a moron I am (I was just sitting there, drinking my first glass - not dancing, not holding a squirmy child. . . though I probably would put the booze down for that), I headed into the bathroom, stripped off all the wine-soaked clothes and pillow case and tossed them into the stink with what I like to call a "crap ton" of Borax.  I let them soak overnight and the next morning all the stains were gone - GONE!  So I simply rinsed everything out and let it air dry - the next day, still GONE (I was convinced they're magically re-appear, lol!).  It was amazing and truly, I don't think there is another thing out there that could do something so wonderful.  For more awesome uses for Borax (I add it to each load of laundry as a booster) check out their site!
