baci's baking - Top Five Ways to Kick Up Store-bought Mac'n'cheese

Hi, I'm Amanda and I am addicted to macaroni and cheese. There. I feel better now.

With that being said, it's no surprise that I like to tweak my store-bought mac'n'cheese, that is when I don't have time to make this tasty recipe from scratch. First things first, my favorite brands are:

Annie's Homegrown Shells & White Cheddar
Annie's Homegrown Shells & Real Aged Cheddar

Ok, now that we have that out of the way, on to my Top Five Ways to Kick Up Store-bought Macaroni and Cheese!

1. Roasted Red Peppers - I usually keep a jar of roasted red peppers in my fridge and this is one of the main reasons! Coarsely chop up your peppers and toss them right into your mac'n'cheese.

2. Sriracha (aka Rooster) Sauce - After you've dished out your macaroni on to a plate, put a few drops of this tasty yet potent hot sauce on top - so good!!

3. Mrs. Dash Extra Spicy - I just added about a teaspoon and a half of Mrs. Dash Extra Spicy (one of my favorite spices ever!) to Annie's Real Aged Cheddar this past weekend and it was absolutely incredible. We may never eat plain mac'n'cheese again.

4. MORE Cheese - You heard it right, add more cheese to your store-bought mac'n'cheese!! It's a great way to put that last bit of shredded cheddar or leftover chunk of cream cheese to good use.

5. Panko Crumbs - Think bread crumbs, but a much healthier option. Velveeta Shells and Cheese is the best to spoon into a greased 8 x 8 dish and top with Panko Crumbs (because it's creamiest). You can broil it until the top gets browned or bake for 20 minutes or so if you've added roasted red peppers (or chicken, I forget about chicken!!).

Do you have any macaroni and cheese tricks up your sleeve? I'd love to hear them!!
