Our Home, Re-invasion | Day Five - baci's Studio

The day you've all been waiting for (I might be exaggerating just a bit here, lol!) is finally here - the unveiling of baci's studio!!  It isn't 100% finished, but really what room ever really is :o)  Let's get right into the kaleidoscope of colors (with a focus on olive, red and dark purple) with the pair of slipcovered Pier One chairs I have in the room - they are not only cute, but comfortable, too!  One thing I'd love to buy is a small red table for in between the chairs to put bridal magazines on.

Normally, my desk is full of things and I found that when I needed to pack up boxes to ship out to clients I didn't have the space so I bought this high-top desk with drawers to hold all of my packaging supplies and it's ended up serving a dual purpose as the intern desk, too!

The two frames on the desk will eventually be hung, but I'm waiting to finish one more before doing so.  The one on the left is a framed love note written on a calendar from July 1975 - we found it inside one of the pockets doors when we moved in.  It's so sweet that we choose to frame it - Ilario sometimes says to me, "Thanks, Carla, for being my wife," because that's what it says :o)  He's just so funny, isn't he?  Lol!  We turned the frame on the right into a bulletin board for all the sweet notes and announcements I receive from clients - it's a great boost of confidence on those "why do I do this again?" days.

I bought the vintage looking card catalog organizer at Hobby Lobby and I not only use it for organization on a regular basis, but I've used it to display paper beauties at shows, too!  The chair is from our kitchen table and I've been on the lookout to replace it with a cute stool. . . if you find one, let me know :o)

My gorgeous Olive Manna (LOVE that shop!) baskets hold more packaging supplies. . .

. . . and this Hobby Lobby basket with a lid hides extra reams of basic printer paper.

Also from Hobby Lobby (I may have a slight addiction), this metal bin holds things on it's way to the shredding station. . .

. . . and this little beauty from the Target gardening department holds everything that can be recycled (which is a lot considering paper is our business).

When you enter into the office from the living room, the first thing you see is this amazing vintage poster for a local charity softball game that we purchased at a Wine & Wishes Benefit a few years back - we framed it and I fell even more in love :o)

I found the perfect red chair at EuroLife Furniture in Columbus - it adds just the right pop of color!  I keep Carl handy at all times, right at my feet :o)

Continuing with my other addiction:  Ikea - we bought several bookcases that can be converted into corner units and/or cabinets.  They have truly been amazing - I'm able to display all sorts of prettiness like past invitation suites and hide away all the things that aren't so attractive like files and office supplies.  Oh, and yes, I organize my books by color - I have a problem, people!!

Another vintage typewriter, this time a find by my grandma (it made an appearance at the J Style Bridal Event) and two more of my favorite invitation suites - one from Abby and Bri's Birthday, as well as the invite from the Bright Star Shoot with Arielle Doneson Photography (being published in a VERY big blog soon - squuuueallllll!!).

A few cute mirrors I picked up at Hobby Lobby - originally intended for the living room and we ended up loving them in here instead :o)

Another bookshelf/cabinet - this one displays pretty boxes (can you believe I found these at WalMart?) full of extra envelopes, assembly pieces, shirley | edith cards and craft supplies.  It's also home to a few Abby Rose Gift Sets, sample paper books and some mementos from Katie and Kevin's wedding last July.

Last, but not least - organization heaven - two Ikea ALEX Drawer Units side-by-side with Martha Stewart Adhesive Bookplates to dress them up a bit.  These babies are full of so much paper that it would make normal people cry!  Topped with a handy dandy scanner so I can send clients sketches, my See Jane Work business card organizer (being a stationery designer, I just can't throw them away!), Target folders and holders, as well as my heavy duty paper cutter - I love these drawers :o)

Sadly, it's come to an end - hopefully we'll have the basement up and running by the end of the summer so I can show you all the magical things we've done down there (a girl can dream, right?)!

Our Home, Re-invasion | Day Four - Dining Room, Kitchen + Breezeway

Not a ton of changes in the dining room to report.  We changed the way we have the table set up - we have it like this at Christmas so there is room for the tree, we liked it so much that we decided to leave it :o)

I display some of our pretty wine stoppers (to be honest, they're all so gorgeous I rarely use them - it makes me nervous!) in a candy dish that was my neighbor's growing up (it was a wedding present from their daughter since they have both passed - such a very meaningful piece to me) and filled it with dried peas from Jami and Eric's wedding centerpieces.

Just recently we added this beautiful chair - it was my aunt's mother's, who passed away last February.  I used to visit her with my aunt each summer, so it's very special to me to have this in our home.

The rose detail is gorgeous - definitely my favorite part!

We also hung this custom painting done by my friend Alaina of Ace of Images. . .

. . . and I bought these gorgeous pieces at Hobby Lobby!

Moving into the kitchen, we hung this beautiful Don Drum clock that was a gift from our brother-in-law's sister - love this!

I also bought these vintage-looking numbered containers from Target - #1 we use as a compost bin and #2 holds tea.

As well as these adorable little birds from Pier One (and I've been keeping my Africa Violet alive SINCE Easter - that's a miracle in itself!). . .

. . . and this amazing vintage Premium Saltine Crackers Tin (also from the garage sale where we bought the orange crates - now do you see why I wish they'd have another one!!).  My mom has the same tin so I was so happy to find one just like it!  We also were gifted the pretty "C" trivet/cutting board from Ilario's sister.

I started displaying my colorful aprons on these cute little bird hooks from Hobby Lobby. . .

. . . and I bought a new napkin holder from Target which now rests on our relocated Pottery Barn lazy susan (don't mind my on-its-way-out basil plant - it used to look good until we left for a few days, but it's going into the garden this weekend so it should be happy again soon!).

Resting on the countertop is my personalize Tastebook (my favorite gift to give!), a repurposed Mason jar turned utensil holder and the handmade "C" holder created by my talented friend, Vanessa.

And last but not least, we hung our Cursaro alphabet photography frame from Letter Pictures Etsy Shop (another favorite gift to give!).

Finally, in the breezeway we set up a black cabinet (a gift from my aunt) that holds not only shoes (I have a lot of shoes!), but soda, plastic outdoor dinnerware and grilling tools.  This is definitely the best thing I ever did - it solved so many of our "where do I put this" woes, especially since our kitchen is small!

More great decorations on top of the cabinet - an embroidered sign (a present from my sister and her husband this Christmas), mini jars Ilario bought me filled with dried flowers from a client's wedding (thank you Jesse and Laurinda!) and a vintage typewriter, also my aunt's mother's.

Ilario and I's new favorite piece in our breezway is our stadium-style bench, given to use by our brother-in-law's sister!  This summer I would love to paint it black and add "seat numbers" on the back for a real baseball park feel :o)  Oh, the pillow is also another Ikea purchase - it was too cute not to buy!

Finishing off the breezway are more birds, of course!  These hooks from Arhaus are the perfect addition for organization in the small room!!

Our Home, Re-invasion | Day Three - Stairwell, Living Room + Downstairs Bath

Today we're heading down the stairs. . . literally, here are the stairs :o)  We put up a gallery wall of white frames in the stairwell - I love it!

And now for a few details in the living room - on the mantle we still have the collection of frames, but we've also added a few fun pieces like this flower stamp that was a present from our friend, Bekah.

We've also started collecting wine corks (we're writing the year on them) in the gorgeous Arhaus bottle (also a great find by Bekah!) at the base of the fireplace.  We haven't gotten very far, but I'm sure it won't take too long to fill :o)

We've purchased some fun new lamps from Hobby Lobby. . .

. . . and some vintage produce crate fronts from a local garage sale.  I sometimes drive past the house where we found them, hoping they'll have another sale - I want more :o)

On the shelf above the TV we have the other three paintings from the little shop in Charlotte and my adorable little Arhaus bird vases!!

Also on the shelf, I have my stack of Tara Guérard books (love her!), as well as our wedding album, wedding guest book and cross purchased on our honeymoon in Belize. . . oh, and the adorable little heart from Paloma's Nest.  This might be one of my favorite nooks in the house - I love having all these personal touches, it really makes our house a home!

I also bought some new Pottery Barn pillows - on sale, of course :o)

The downstairs bathroom is my least favorite place in the house - it is really the only room that we haven't done anything to and it just really isn't my style, nor do I feel that it goes with the rest of the house.  So it will certainly be getting a refresher soon, hopefully this winter :o)  What was convenient though - we had a bathroom that was purple in our last house so I didn't have to buy a ton of new décor!

I do love, love, love this frame I have hanging in the bathroom though - a picture of my mom and I when I was little at one of her softball games and another of the two of us at my high school graduation party :o)

The room thankfully does have good bones with the '50s style arches into the shower and sink alcove. . . I just really hate the tile border and the wall treatment below it.  The dream:  white bead board :o)  I hung the sheer floral curtain with raffia instead of hooks - a cheap and easy DIY - and I also layered the sheer curtain with a purple liner.
