Wedding Wednesday | Vintage Villa Inspiration

I found this BEAUTIFUL Real Villa Wedding on Bridesmaid.com back in July and I have just been waiting to find the time to make an inspiration board out of the incredible images by Tyler Branch Photo.  I love the vintage details - the letters on the church and the unique table numbers are my favorites :o)  Enjoy!!

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries Tie the Knot!

The "Fairytale Wedding" of Reality TV Starlet Kim Kardashian and NBA Star Kris Humphries happened this past Saturday - of course, it was absolutely nothing but glamourous :o)  However, I must say I am less than excited about the fashion and accessory choices.  Watch the video from E! to see for yourself. . .

Kim wore Vera Wang, my favorite designer on the planet, but I am not a fan of her head piece - it looks severely dated to me.  And I don't even want to get started on her mom's dress - are you kidding me with that bow?

I did enjoy the uniqueness of everyone wearing white. . . but I think they may have taken it a bit too far - EVERYTHING was white from the aisle runner (Yay for the Original Aisle Runner Company, we used them for our 2007 wedding), to the fabric backdrop, the guests' chairs, the tuxes, the canopy and even the car Kim rode to the ceremony in.  I guess we'll just have to wait and see more photos as the week progresses to see those "touches of pink" they said were included.  I can't wait to see the whole dress :o)

I fell in absolute love with this photo when I found it on Every Last Detail yesterday - the perfect treat for any Fall wedding!!  It really puts me in the mood for crisp autumn weather - I can't wait to start wearing skinny jeans, tall boots and soft scarves again :o)

Jami's Bachelorette Party | 08.2011 {Akron, Ohio}

{The Saturday Crew}

Last weekend we celebrated the first of Jami's Pre-wedding Events - Her Bachelorette Party!!!  All the ladies in her bridal party, both moms and a few great friends made the trek to my house and celebrated the weekend with a Slumber Party (complete with a Pajama Contest - Jami won!), Pool Time and a night out on Portage Lakes full of dinner, drinking and dancing!!  We had such a wonderful time, maybe even too much of a good time Saturday night - lol!

Maid of Honor, Sarah, and I (Matron of Honor) went full force "Team Bride" with the attire for the weekend.  I designed "Team Bride" shirts with Jami and Eric's wedding date on the front and custom titles on the back that ranged from "Bridesmaid" and "M.O.B" to "Sexy Lexy" and "Foxy Friend".  Jami's donned "Future Mrs. Jesse" on the back - it was adorable :o)  Sarah also found an awesome Bachelorette Package on eBay that came with the "Team Bride" buttons and sash, as well as the cute necklaces we all wore.

A few PG Highlights from the weekend:
1)  Bachelorette Mad Libs - A seriously good time after you all loosen up with your words choices - lol!

2)  "Pictionary Telephone" - A game where you write a detailed sentence and then pass it to the person on your right who then has to draw what you wrote, they then pass it to the next person who has to write a detailed sentence about what the person on their left drew. . . and so on and so forth (if you want more detailed directions, feel free to email me).  This game nearly had us peeing our pants - it is so funny to see how things get interpreted after nine rounds!!!

3)  Food - I know it's general but we had some of the best food ever last weekend:  Special Recipe Cookies from our Mama's Bakery, Boston Creme Pie Cupcakes made by Rachelle, Walking Tacos, Never-ending White Queso Dip, Hummus with Pretzel Crisps and Stacy's Pita Chips, Laughing Cow loveliness and Buffalo Chicken Dip just to name a few!

4)  Beverages - Sarah, Jaaci and I made jello shots and pudding shots which were tasty and gone by Saturday afternoon - lol!!  We also had ourselves a few "Mona Coronas" (A Corona with a shot of Bacardi Limón in it - mmmm!) at dinner Saturday night.

5)  Genuine Friendship - To see so many of Jami's friends drive all the way here (a three hour drive at the least) to celebrate with her was beautiful!  One friend even drove up late Friday night after her flight arrived in Columbus just to spend the night even though she had to leave early Saturday morning for a birthday party.  Now that's a good friend :o)

On that note, I just want to thank you all so much for making Jami's Bachelorette Party Weekend FABULOUS!!  You really are the best friends and family a girl could ask for :o)

Southern Wedding Inspiration Guest Post on A Lowcountry Wedding

In case you all missed it yesterday, I was lucky enough to write a Guest Post over on the fabulous A Lowcountry Wedding - complete with a gorgeous Southern Inspiration Board.  A huge thank you to the amazing Erin for having me!!  Keep rockin' out with your beautiful blog full of my favorite southern inspirations :o)

Wedding Wednesday | Destination Beach Wedding

This post was really cute and unique. One because it was a beach wedding, which are absolutely gorgeous weddings! Two because they decorated perfectly for their themed wedding. And three, because of this amazing idea of a seating chart. I would have never thought of this :)

They used this world map as a seating chart, with mini flags attached that had the guests name on it. They grouped guests in categories by Oceans, and used the Ocean names as table numbers :)

How Adorable!!! If you're planning a beach wedding or maybe even met your husband across the ocean, I think this idea would be perfect!

Special Edition: Bachelorette Party :)

Special Edition: Bachelorette Party :)

So because I am leaving today to go to my sister's for the weekend with some amazing friends, I am just reminding all of you in case you forgot, ha.

I am excited for a whole weekend focused just on having fun. As some of you may already know, I'm not a crazy person (so don't expect to hear any wild stories when I return, ha) so tonight will just be a chill night---kind of like we're in middle school again having a sleepover. What better way than sleeping on hard floors, eating junk food, and swapping stories :) My sister and cousin, Casey, both did a bachelorette party like this too...which makes it even more memorable!

Saturday will consist of some pool time (hopefully the weather will be nice) then out to eat and hanging out on the lake, hopping from bar to bar!!

Sunday is the day of relaxation before everyone heads home!!!

If anything changes, no worries, I will let you know the next blogging session about my bachelorette party :) haha

{DIY} Dying Lace for my Wedding

Have you ever tried dying lace before?

This was my first time trying, as well as my mother's (even though my mom totally did most of the work, ha). But it was hard!! Everyone that she had talked to said dying lace to a dark purple color was more difficult than any other color because after every wash, it lightens back up and rarely stayed dark. Well, that was exactly what it did every time. Mom thought she had the perfect color, and BAM, it changed as soon as you pulled it out of the dryer.

Mom was pulling up the lace from the dye, so I could see what it looked like.

Mom worked hard on the lace!!

This was out outcome. It was very pretty, but not exactly what we were going for :( So now mom and I are looking at purchasing some eggplant lace to use at the reception.

Feel free to make me feel better and share your stories about things that didn't exactly go the way you planned :) ha

Wedding Wednesday | My Wedding, A Mini Sneak Peek

So...you know how I have been pretty secretive about what's going on for my wedding - well today you get a first look at some of the items we will be using. I won't tell you exactly what we are doing with them, but that we are using them :)

We are not using coffee beans, but we are using another type of bean to fill jars and place candles in. I have already tried them and they look beautiful. But of course, I won't ruin the surprise and tell you what kind of beans :) You will just have to attend my wedding or wait until pictures are up, ha. Doesn't everyone just LOVE reading my posts!

Hope you enjoyed the mini sneak peek :)

baci's baking - Baked Brie

Today's baci's baking recipe comes from brand new Book Club member, Ashley - this Baked Brie is honestly one of the most tasty things I've ever had!  It's perfect for a shower or as an appetizer for a nice dinner.  Enjoy!!

Baked Brie Recipe

1 large sheet of puff pastry dough or 1 tube of refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
1 round or wedge of Brie cheese (do not remove rind)
Raspberry Jam, or other sweet jam (I used Strawberry-Rhubarb the last time I made it - yum!)
Brown sugar
1/4 cup of maple syrup

1)  Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2)  On a stick-free cookie sheet, lay out the puff pastry or the crescent rolls flat; put brie round or wedge on top.
3)  Spread jam on brie, fold dough over top, cutting off excess dough.
4)  Drizzle maple syrup and place a handful of brown sugar on top.
5)  Bake at 350º for 25 - 30 minutes, pastry should be golden brown. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.  Serve with crackers and apple slices.

Handpicked - Purple and Green Flowers

Baci Followers---do you remember my wedding colors?

I sure hope so :) Wait, I don't ever remember telling you exactly, ha, but I think Amanda might have a few times.

So if you don't know, my colors are eggplant and moss green. I have discovered those are two of the hardest colors to match, even though eggplant is becoming more and more popular every year. So I was in search for wedding flowers that incorporated my colors. I realize these next several flowers are not exactly my eggplant or moss green, but in the same realm. You can go with a flower that is little less known or stick with the traditional, I'll give you nine options :)

1) Purple Perennial Flowers on home.howstuffworks.com - Very pretty! And it says they are easy to maintain if you want to grow your own and save some money.
2) Green roses and lady mantel on palmdesertflorist.com
3) Hydrangeas on soundslikeaustin.com
4) Green Chrysanthemum on w-weddingflowers.com - It says they are eco friendly--we win!!
5) Purple Carnations on fiftyflowers.com (80 for $99.99)
6) Sage Cymbidium Orchids on weddings.theknot.com - I had never seen these before until looking up flowers now and they're gorgeous!
7) Dark Purple Daisy on flowerpicturegallery.com - Traditional but beautiful!
8) Eggplant Purple Tinted Cattails on fiftyflowers.com - (8 bunches for $119.99) Perfect for a rustic, country wedding :)
9) Mini Green Santini Mums and Green Spider Mums on weddings.theknot.com

I wish I would have realized there were some of these flowers before now, I might have used some of them :)

This photo by Kristin Vining Photography is hands down the most beautiful thing I have seen all week!  The celebrity subjects, actress/model Ayesha Alexander and NBA Star Stephen Curry, certainly help out kick up the swoon-factor.

For more of the gorgeousness from this Charlotte (yay for our former hometown!) Engagement Session check out the full gallery on Style Me Pretty - the best place to go if you're ever in need of wedding eye candy :o)

baci's book club - July 2011 - The Help

Happy Thursday!!

This month we read and discussed Kathryn Stockett's The Help and man alive did we all love it!  It's impossible to put down!!  The Help, according to Huffington Post, "details the lives of black maids in 60's Mississippi and the white women they work for."  And it has caused quite the controversy.  The book, written by Caucasian Ms. Stockett, is written entirely in dialect during the African-American maids' portions - some have called it racist and others have simply requested the "black" version of The Help.  (Huffington Post)  Despite the taboo, all members of Book Club absolutely fell in love with the warm, southern ladies in the book!

WARNING, the following discussions may act as a Spoiler!!

Most of America was desegregating in the 1960's, but in Jackson, Mississippi it was far from acceptable to mix races - there were separate neighborhoods, drinking fountains, grocery stores and even in the homes black women worked as maids there were "colored" bathrooms.  While hard to believe in today's world, this separation is the basis of The Help.

Skeeter, a college graduate with untamable hair (lol!) determined to get out of her small town and to New York to become a writer is told by an editor that she needs to write about something "real".  Having had a wonderful and mother-daughter-like relationship (most white children were raised by their maids - it was unreal) with her former maid, Constantine, who mysteriously disappeared while she was away at school, she decided it was time someone tell the maid's side of the story.

Skeeter convinces, old-timer Aibileen (who we all fell in love with - I want this woman to tell me stories!!), who works for sometimes kind, but backbone-less Elizabeth, to be her interviewee and together they begin to write about what it's really like for a black maid working for a white woman.  Once Skeeter sends the beginning of her book, which she calls The Help, the editor says that she'll need more points of view.  That's when Aibileen begs Minny Jackson, a young mouthy maid with a mean husband, to help - at first she refuses, but eventually she and many other maids in town jump in to help.  Once the book is published, the entire town of Jackson is up in arms trying to figure out if they are in the book!  Hilly Holbrook, who continuously strives for the segregation of black maids in white households, is the leader in this hunt for who is part of the book and in the end she gets what is coming to her.  Unfortunately, she ruins a few maids' lives in the process.

Throughout the book you feel like you're living in the south - the details are wonderful and the pain these black woman, and their families, experience is right there at your fingertips.  You want to hang out with Skeeter, ask Aibileen to cook you a meal, have Minny on your side, kick Hilly Holbrook right in the behind and hug Celia Foote (Minny's sweet, yet hillbilly boss) when she finds out she can never have a child.  It touches on so many sensitive points, while still being light and humorous.  There is love, loss and of course, the "terrible awful" thing Minny does to Hilly's pie will make you queasy in your stomach!!

We were a little upset with the way the book ended - no one wanted to see Aibileen get fired.  However, it was wonderful that she was going to have revenue from the book, as well as the housekeeping column she was taking over for Skeeter.  We just wished she would have said that money would be enough to survive on, but unfortunately that's not the way it worked out.  Everyone most definitely wanted to book to keep going - we wanted to see how Skeeter did in New York, if Minny really left her no good husband this time and what Aibileen ended up doing to support herself.

All in all, we were very happy with The Help and would certainly recommend it to anyone and everyone!!  We absolutely can't wait to see the movie either!!!

Next month, we've chosen to read Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay - which, of course, is going to be a movie, too!

We'll be meeting on September 1st, so mark your calendars and we'll see you then!!  Don't forget to tell your friends to join baci's book club :o)

Oh and be sure to check out the most recent baci's baking recipe for Watermelon Salsa from Book Club member, Cathy!

Wedding Wednesday | Wedding Dress Fitting

It Could Have Possibly Been The Death Of Me!!

Yes--this is truly what I thought when it came to getting my wedding dress fitting. I had my first fitting a couple Wednesdays ago and 2 weeks before that I officially started freaking out about whether or not it was still going to fit me---it had been several months since I tried it on last in the store. Typical girl (worrying about her weight-ha). So I instantly started watching what I was eating again---basically laying off the junk food--ya know, those good food items you want ALL the time like chips, ice cream, and chocolate :) haha.

Of course, I ended up having NOTHING to worry about because I still fit into my wedding dress. Thank goodness, or poor Eric would have had to listen to me complain for the next several weeks about how my dress did not fit, ha.

I went to Bridal Village and Alterations in Hicksville, Ohio to get my dress fitted. I have only ever gone to them for a dress fitting--prom and bridesmaids, and now wedding :) And they are truly the best!

Oh and I forgot---while I was there, Mom and I picked out the tuxes and colors for the men in the wedding party, plus Eric and our fathers--who knew there were SO MANY choices when it came to tuxes, ridiculous :)

We'd love you to share your wedding dress fitting stories :)

baci's baking - Watermelon Salsa

Today's recipe is from baci's book club member, Cathy, who also happens to be my awesome sister-in-law ;o)  The recipe isn't about exact measurements, so feel free to experiment until you've got it just right for your taste!

Watermelon Salsa

Watermelon, cut up bite size
Green pepper, chopped
Green onion or red onion, chopped
Jalepeno pepper, finely chopped
Lime juice

1)  In a bowl, mix watermelon, green pepper, onion, and jalepeno together.
2)  Add lime juice for flavor.

It really is as simple (and tasty!) as that!  Enjoy :o)
